Sand, surf and a bomb scare...

...not bad for our first family adventure!

Cuba was lovely. We had 3 full sun days and the rest were cloudy and windy but we never had any rain and the sun shone on the wedding day. The ocean was warmer than the pool most days and the kids loved playing along the shore, building sand castles and collecting shells. The food was decent (that Cuba can feed that many resorts is a small miracle to begin with... we went not expecting fantastic food so we weren't disappointed). Fresh fruit, smoothies, all-included pina coladas, tequila (for Craig who cleaned out 2 of the bars in one night... relax, it was a total of 6 shots), mohitos, 24hr snack bar... yum.

A couple of funny stories:

The kids were so well behaved, we had other tourists and staff commenting on how good they were. So many comments that Ty said one day at lunch "I wish they'd stop watching us. It's annoying me." I explained that it was because they were behaving so well that people were amazed.

Quin decided to make the best of the Varadaro airport. Even though I had him in a diaper (in case he had an accident on the plane), he wanted to use the facilities. Craig took him in the first stall: "There's pee in there," stated Quin. On to the second stall: "There's pee in there too." Third stall: "There's no pee in here." Walk closer. "But it's gross. I'll just pee in my diaper."

And finally, what's an airport visit without a bomb scare? Unfortunately for us, Quinten was the source of the scare. As we're checking our luggage on the weigh scale, Quin loudly announces "There's a bomb on the plane Mommy." "You don't say things like that Quinten!" "But Mommy, there's a bomb." Craig starts turning pale and sweating. Quin points to the red digital numbers showing the weight of our bags. I finally clue in and explain that those number tell the people how much the luggage weighs and that it's not a counter for a bomb. Seriously. I blame the superhero cartoons. They alway show the bombs with black counter boxes with red digital numbers.

Home safe and sound.
